How to mark a part as a fastener

How to mark a part as a fastener

How to mark a part as a fastener

(OP)
I am wondering if it is possible to mark a part (somewhere in the properties) as a fastener so when I make a section view & select exclude fasteners that section doesn't cut through that part.

Thanks for help

RE: How to mark a part as a fastener

Use the customer property "IsFastener" (Property type = number, value = 1)

RE: How to mark a part as a fastener

There is a default custom property called "isFastener" that can be set for a part document.  If the isFastener property is set to 1 than that part will not be included in assembly interference checks, when used in an assembly

From what I understand Toolbox parts have this property set by default.

thanks I will try it.

I tried it but for some reason didn't work...not sure if I am missing something.
Also, when I make section view, and in section scope I check "Exclude fasteners" SW still cut through them.
Is there any other setting??
Thanks.

RE: How to mark a part as a fastener

Go to C:\Program Files\SolidWorks06\Toolbox\data utilities and use the application sldsetdocprop.exe this will fix the issue that you are having.

sBaugh, how do you mean to use it? I found it and when I open it has different options like add files, add directories and so on...what should I do here?

Thanks a lot..

RE: How to mark a part as a fastener

If you want to set the property select "Property State Yes". then browse to the files/directories and select "Update status". You will not see anything happen. but if you check the files you should see the IsFastener set.
