Two cables' connection in explosive area
Two cables' connection in explosive area
(OP)
This is not my area of expertise. I want to connect two cables of the same type in order to add two more meters to the already 20-25 meters of the existing one. This cable is used to supply 230 V AC to a motor, and it has 11 wires in it. The explosion protection is of the "Intrisicaly Safe" type.
Question: Is it ok to use electrical insulating resin (inside molds) to cover the conection?
Thank you.

RE: Two cables' connection in explosive area
But, What type of cable? What size motor?
Very important, What is the class and division of the explosive atmosphere?
Cables are usually spliced in a junction box that is approved for the location, or spliced with a splice kit that is approved for the location and has all the components needed for the splice included in the package.
I would suggest that you buy a longer cable and forget about trying to splice the cable.
