Need gland water flow rate formula/calculator

Need gland water flow rate formula/calculator

Need gland water flow rate formula/calculator

(OP)
Anyone have an easy way to estimate the volume of gland flush water, based on shaft diameter, 5-6 rings of packing, assuming supply is 10psi above discharge pressure?
Any tips on explaining the correct gland settings to field personnel?
Thanks!

RE: Need gland water flow rate formula/calculator

sprintcar,

Talk with a vendor who sells similar gland packing. He may or may not have info from actual installations that will give you the information you require.....

Typically, in a process plant, "gland flushing water" is used like any other utility...... plenty is provided in a big system and system capacity is increased when they "run out"

Good Luck !!
