Does UGS nx have components library for tool die design. I use Mechanical Desktop and old version of Ideas 2.0
Thanks

RE: components library

NX has a Mold Wizard and a Die Wizard that have special capabilities for designing molds, but I'm not sure if they come with standard components since everyone is not going to be using the exact same type of components for mold making.  The library would be so large that you'd need a very large hard drive to install it.

However, you can create your own library as needed.

RE: components library

If you are designing injection molds, moldwizard has a lot of standard components used (Dme,Omni,Hasco,Progressive,National,Misumi, and yates)

And depending on how you want to use these components you might have to customize each one to your standards (I had to). But overall it's a good add on.Easy to customize

I do tool die design. I use bushing, shoepin, die shoe, Dadco nitrogen cylinder, springs, die button, screws, dowels, pilots, pierce punches, ejector pins, cam, gibs, caps, camdriver. I think I have to make my own library. Thanks for your replies.

RE: components library

One thing you could do is make part family tables of your parts, if you don't have moldwizard or diewizard. If you use UG to generate your stock list you can get it to fill itself out with part attributes (I don't know if you know how to do that or not). This can save you a lot of time.
