CRN Numbers do they apply to Pumps

Question:

We are in the process of currently having a skid package that is undergoing the rigorous TSSA inspection.  The inspector asked to see the CRN number of the pump, I had been operating under the assumption that CRN Registration did not apply to the pumps.
Could some knowledgable person shed some light on this?

RE: CRN Numbers do they apply to Pumps

Pumps are not specifically addressed as a pressure component in CSA-B51 so therefore, by default ,the rules of Sect. VIII Div. I apply. As such the pump is exempt from being a pressure component, and therefore not requiring a CRN, as per U-1(c)(2)(c).

RE: CRN Numbers do they apply to Pumps

Here is a useful site regarding CRN numbers, how to determine if you need one, and whether it's a vessel, fitting or N/A.

It's interesting to note that CRN requirements may vary from province to province. At the bottom is the contact information for each province. It doesn't hurt to check it out with the governing body.
