Bruhn erratum

Bruhn erratum

Bruhn erratum

(OP)
humbly i propose this thread ...

bruhn was human and his book has errors.  that is not meant as a slight against one of our "bibles".  McCombs has prepared an equally valuable supplement.

almost all of us use bruhn everyday and i thought it'd be helpful to everyone to post an erratum.

RE: Bruhn erratum

Page A4.3, column 1, equation 3, should read

"V^2 - Vo^2 = 2as"

(first velocity term must be squared)

And then there's the previously mentioned page B1.8, Equation 3,

"...= f/F0.7 + (3/7)*(f/F0.7)n

thx steve

RE: Bruhn erratum

You're welcome, but you still get credit for such a good idea.  If there's a good response to this one, I should turn it into a FAQ.

Section C11.25 Secondary Bending Moments in Flanges (pertaining to incomplete diagonal tension analysis)

Equation (69) should have a "tan α" term at the end. The full equation should read:

M=(1/12) k fs t d2 C3 tan α

Reference NACA TN 2661 p.50.
