If I stop paying my subscription fees for a period of two or three years do I have to pay the reinstallation fee plus an additional 1 years subscription fee or do I have to pay the subscription fee for each release that I have missed. Thank for the help.

Ususally re-installation plus 1 year subscription.

Right.  You pay for a year of maintenance (to get your updates, etc.) and last I knew the fee was near $500.  So that will bring you near $2,000 total.
