Basket Weaving 101

Basket Weaving 101

Basket Weaving 101

(OP)
I have the recurring nightmare of creating a basket weave effect on the products that I design. I have some strategies that work decent on flat areas. Sadly much of our product does not have nice flat areas that need the weave look. I am wondering if there is some sort of add-in or another program that might help with this type of feature. Currently I am working on weaving the outside surface of a revolved shape. Not much fun to say the least.

Thanks for any ideas

RE: Basket Weaving 101

Unless you absolutely MUST HAVE the actual weave modelled, just create the basic shape & add a texture instead. There are several in the library.

cheers

I do actually need to model the basket weave. It is always a real pain in the butt to get it to look the way we want. We make cast furniture and design and build our own molds so having the actual basket weave is needed. In rare cases when we have the parts sand cast we can fake it and have the patterns hand carved. I guess there is no magic bullet.
