We are designing a feed gas separator 900# Where the client requirement is to make shell in to two by means of body flange.The pressure is 97 bar and the temp is 75c.Shell material is 316L,body flange is sized by A-516 Gr.70 with SS clading.All the above info. have been analyed in PV ELITE.
Kindly teach me the details regarding the ASME code clause which allows CS flange weld to SS body on pressure containing parts.

It's no different than having different materials for your shell. All you need is an approved weld procedure for the bimetallic weld and overlay to stainless weld. Nothing special...

BTW - for future reference - it's Section VIII, not Section 8.

It's in the Foreword to Section VIII Div. 1 and Div. 2: ...The Code does not address all aspects of these activities and those aspects which are not specifically addressed should not be considered prohibited...
It's also more specific in Section VIII Div. 2 AD-101(a): Except as specifically prohibited by other rules of this Division, a vessel may be designed for and constructed of any combination of materials permitted in Part AM, provided the applicable rules are followed and the requirements in Section IX for welding dissimilar metals are met.
It's really not that big a deal...
