Protel Question

Protel Question

Protel Question

(OP)
Hello,
I'm a new user to Protel and I need to know if 'footprint' libraries are embedded in schematic libraries or are they separate?
I have the schematic finished but am unable to place footprints on the PCB. The book is lacking.

Thanx
Altim

RE: Protel Question

The footprints are a seperate library (at least for DXP2004 and the earlier 99SE).

Double click on the component in your schematic to bring up information on the component. The "Models For <reference designator> <component name>" box will list "footprint" under the model "type" column if there is a footprint already associated with that schematic item.

You also need to have a footprint library linked to the project you are working on.
