Need information on helical anchors

(OP)
Does anyone have a good reference for determining the capacity of helical anchors in tension?

Or Atlas Systems

RE: Need information on helical anchors

I thought they both merged into one company?

RE: Need information on helical anchors

I believe they might have.  As I understand it, they will be working in different market sectors, utilizing slightly different product lines.

RE: Need information on helical anchors

As an engineer with an AB Chance installer, use a ratio of 1:10 torque to load (ie. 10,000 ft-lbs of torque equates to an ultimate capacity of 100 kips tension or compression, working load is half of ultimate so 50 kip for design).  Typically design loads for limited access areas are 25 kip design.  Areas where a piece of equipment can get in, like a skid loader, you can achieve a design load of 50 kip.  If more capacity is required you can nest more than one pier together, but the piers have to be separated by three times the largest helix diameter.

RE: Need information on helical anchors

Anyone have case histories for helical anchors used in California under seismic loading conditions (approx 10km from San Andreas Fault)?  AB Chance website has one case, but it relies on the existing foundation for lateral resistance.
