insulating oil compatibilty
insulating oil compatibilty
(OP)
Hi guys,
Is it possible to mix different transformer insulating oil like silicone to mineral oil or to the other petroleum based oil used in oil-immersed transformer? What would be the consequences?
Since, ASTM provides different compatibilty test for silicone and petroleum origin such as ASTM D3455-02 and ASTM D5282-05, does it mean we are restricted to mix oils?
Any suggestion and comment would be a great help!
thank u, guys!

I agree with Scott it doesn't sound like a good idea.

As for mixing RTEMP with regular oil, Im not certain but I
would'nt do that. RTEMP is too viscuous...
