Calculating 2:1 elliptical head wetted surface areas

Calculating 2:1 elliptical head wetted surface areas

(OP)

I am trying to calculate the wetted surface area of an horizontal vessel with 2:1 elliptical heads.

I can calculate the shell wetted area.  However, I do not know how to calculate the wetted area of 2:1 elliptical heads in the horizontal orientation.

Suggestions?

RE: Calculating 2:1 elliptical head wetted surface areas

Surface area of a 2:1 head is 1.084 D^2

RE: Calculating 2:1 elliptical head wetted surface areas

There is a nice chart in the Pressure Vessel Handbook for surface areas of shells and heads.
