where to buy part for AMW mig welders (rectifier)

where to buy part for AMW mig welders (rectifier)

where to buy part for AMW mig welders (rectifier)

(OP)
I have an old AMW mig welder  AMW 1000  that will not spark any more.  the wire will feed and the gas will run, but no spark even if I touch to the grounding clamp.  It was working fine and it started getting really sloppy and than just stopped sparking.  I thought it was the overload,  but even after 2 days it wont work.   I have no idea where the fuse is.  I really don't want to be reaching in there with the capacitors and stuff (zap)   any help would be great

I have called Snap on and they have not delt with them since 1992

I have search the internet for AMW 1000 and AMWeld... nothing but door builders

RE: where to buy part for AMW mig welders (rectifier)

Hi there,
Sorry to hear about your machine-Is the contactor operational? Are all the connections inside in a sound state? You can always use a tester to test for stored power. When did you last blow the machine out (dust, grinding dust etc?)
Check the circuit board for damage and also any relays etc.
If you are still sure that it's the rectifier-a good electrical person might be able to locate the part from his/her supplier. One of my machines gave up just before
Christmas and afterwards we learnt that it was only a relay
that had burnt out.Personally I am not aware of AMW machines-are they American?Snap On use a company called
CEBORA here in the UK.
Hope you get it sorted soon-and a HAPPY NEW YEAR to all!!
TWWeld.

These guys post capabilities for Miller and Lincoln machines.  They might be able to do others or know of someone who can.
