Aircraft skin temperature at mach 1 at 10,000ft
Aircraft skin temperature at mach 1 at 10,000ft
(OP)
I am a speed sky diver. I am hoping that someone can tell me the skin temperature of an aircraft travelling at mach 1 at a height of say 10,000ft. The hottest point, be it the nose or leading edge would be best.

RE: Aircraft skin temperature at mach 1 at 10,000ft
If you know T (static air temp. in absolute units such as Kelvin or Rankine degrees), multiply it by 1.2, and that's the stagnation temperature (leading edge temp.) at Mach 1 (M=1.0).
For instance, assume T = 0 C, 273 K.
To = 328 K, or 55 C, or 131 F.
