Automatic Recirculation Valves vs Control Valves

Automatic Recirculation Valves vs Control Valves

Automatic Recirculation Valves vs Control Valves

(OP)
Hello all. Im looking for some opinions on the quality of auto recirc valves (Yarway, Schroedahl) vs control valves for pump protection at minimum flow. Are some auto recirc valves better than others? Just a little background...DP across pump during min flow is from 1000 to 140 psig and 320GPM. Fluid is water/amine at 140F.
Thanks in advance!
Jamie

RE: Automatic Recirculation Valves vs Control Valves

jamieg1,

I have done 2 projects in the last 5 years, with 2 different clients on opposit sides of your question.

One client specified Yarway for min flow only. The other specified flow meter and control valve via DCS.

In the end, both worked. I feel that it comes down to operations familiarity with the equipment.
