Refining Zamak 3 after die casting

Refining Zamak 3 after die casting

(OP)
We are injecting Zamak 3 in order to produce parts of gas pressure regulators, since the parts itself are smaller than the overflows, runners and sprue, we have the necesity of remelting that already die casted Zamak.
We know that is posible to remelt and refine it, probably by the addition of alloys of Al,Mg or Cu, we are new in the industry and we don“t know how to do it.

RE: Refining Zamak 3 after die casting

Do you have a spectrograph so you can chemically analyze your remelt? The basic procedure is to melt the sprues, get the chemical analysis and then add virgin ingot material if needed to get the chemistry within spec.
