SUction and Discharge Nozzle stresses

SUction and Discharge Nozzle stresses

SUction and Discharge Nozzle stresses

Hello everybody,

Using API 610 processor in CAESAR II, should we enter suction nozzle loads if want to check dischrage nozzle loads and vice versa.

if YES why? Do nozzle loads of one nozzle of pump plays some role in determining the nozzle loads of another pump nozzle

Thanks

RE: SUction and Discharge Nozzle stresses

API 610 is straight forward as far as nozzle qualification requirements. Caesar II is a useful tool to perform those calcs.

You need to get familiar with API 610 so you can make sure the API 610 module has the info it needs to correctly perform the qulaification calcs, whether you've input them manaully or allowed the module to extract them from your Caesar analysis.

The on-line Caesar help manuals are great too.

Hi,

thanks for comments....but the point which i want to make sure is:

Do suction nozzle loads effect dischrage nozzle loads.
Should we consider only single nozzle (suction or dischrge) loadings for anlysis or both.

Thanks

RE: SUction and Discharge Nozzle stresses

auba,

It was on purpose that I didn't answer your question directly. I thought the best help would be to tell you where you can find the answer yourself. You're obviuosly not familar with API 610 and if you're going to be doing stress analysis and nozzle qualifications for pumps, you need to be. Get yourself a copy and read Sect. 5.5 and Annex F.

Whether you can consider your nozzle loads individually or together depends, you'll find those answers in API 610. Once you've reviewed those sections let me know what questions you have.

Good luck

Hi friend,

ok thanks i read... the point F.1.2.b in api says:

The resultant applied force (FRSA, FRDA) and the resultant applied moment (MRSA, MRDA) acting on >>>>> each
pump nozzle <<<<< flange shall satisfy the appropriate interaction equations below.

i understood all.. Both nozzle loadings should be taken into account at a same time.

Thanks

auba,

Yes.
