Thrust Blocks - When?

Thrust Blocks - When?

Thrust Blocks - When?

(OP)
I am currently involved in the design of a foul sewerage rising main [160mm OD HDPE (PE100) SDR 17.6 - 10 Bar Pipe], we are currently proposing to you use electrofusion (as opposed to Butt-Welding) at the joints.
A fellow collegue informed me that thrust blocks / Self anchoring joints are not required when you weld HDPE pipelines? Is this true? I know that 10 Bar is a relatively high pressure rating that we have.

Is their any UK guidance documents in relation to this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanking You.
