Mouse/cursor speed
Mouse/cursor speed
(OP)
Just finished setting up a new system and (re)installing SW. Without SW running the mouse cursor moves across the screen at a speed I like (quickly). However when I open SW, the cursor turns somewhat slow (which I don't like). With SW open (and the cursor speed slow, I'll open something in Windows and the cursor speed goes fast again. Back to the open SW document, it goes slow again). I've gone into SW system options and the only setting I can see that might affect cursor speed is the "view rotation" (mouse speed) setting, which I've got set on "fast". Is there another setting somewhere else I'm missing?
Also, in the windows "mouse" control panel i've got the speed set on fast.
I'm using a Logitech 2+ Wheel PS/2 Optical mouse.
Thanks for your help and suggestions.
Regards,
John

RE: Mouse/cursor speed
You may check to see if you can find a setting within Logitech's drivers--and also within your graphics drivers--just in case there's something tucked away in there. I use a Logitech MX-610 Cordless Laser mouse, cranked up about as fast as it can go and it's got a consistent speed whether in SolidWorks or any other application. With my mouse, the driver system is Logitech's Setpoint. You may want to check for updates to that software, since I found my first version was buggy. Also, my mouse has a gaming mode tab, which I have chosen SetPoint Implementation instead of using Windows standard stuff. I noticed a slight improvement in SolidWorks with that setting, even though that's meant for game precision.

RE: Mouse/cursor speed
I'm using the mouse that came with the system... it's a basic logitech corded optical unit. It actually works fine in all applications, except in SW. It has slow acceleration. I've checked and rechecked all the settings in mouse control panel and SW system settings. The one thing I did find on the Logitech website is an add on piece of software called "tweak mouseware application" that is supposed to accelerate (or at least fine tune) the acceleration for gamers and CAD applications. But I've not yet been able to get it to work. I'll look to have a conversation with Logitech support..... or upgrade the mouse.

RE: Mouse/cursor speed
In the motion tab of the Mouse properties, "Cursor Speed and Accelleration" area, there is a check-box labeled "disable accelleration in games." Uncheck it and your mouse should behave normally.

However..al that being said...in the end, I'm just going to buy a new mouse. The MX610.
