First off, this is my first post, but what a help you guys (and gals I presume) have been! Very helpful forum.

I am trying to figure out whether or not I can change a dimension from driven to driving through an equation? I have a situation where if a formula meets a certain criteria, I want one dimension to drive, otherwise let another dimension drive. Does that make sense?

SW2006 and working with Weldments.

Thanks for the help!

Joe

RE: Changing a dimensions driven properties

Did you try DesignTable with Excel functions such as "=IF(.,.,.)"

RE: Changing a dimensions driven properties

Yes, but determining the condition really needs the model to be setup. It would be tough to calculate without the model, so I was trying to do it within the sketch.

If I was to do it in excel, what is the text needed to change the driven property of a given dimension?

Thanks,
Joe

RE: Changing a dimensions driven properties

Unfortunately, equations can't control feature, part, or dimension suppression(driven).

You can control dimension supression (driving/driven) per configuration. As MFDO suggests, you may be be able to control that from a design table as well.

I suggest placing an enhancement request if you're on subscription.

Could you upload a sample model or sketch?
