Section view at certain depth

Section view at certain depth

Section view at certain depth

(OP)
I have two questions,
1. I m trying to generate a section view at a certain depth in CATDrawing. How to come about?
2. Can I also rotate the view irrespective of the main view from where its been generated, in other words can the link be broken from the main view to manipulate the position of the views as desired.

RE: Section view at certain depth

gsejrmech-

1) Build a sketch in plan view of the section line you would like to cut.  In drafting, pick on section cut icon, go to 3d and pick your sketch, go back to 2d and place your section.

2)To rotate your section, contextual menu the section --> Properties --> Angle change this to rotate view

Derek

Derek,
thank you, I never knew you could do that as I am new to it. One more thing I wanted to ask was can you also break the link of a view from its main view so you can position it as you want.

RE: Section view at certain depth

Irfan, You can break the link, right click your mouse over the section cut to bring up the contextual menu --> View Positioning --> Position Independently of Reference View

Derek

Derek,

Man you must be thinking WOW thats dumb. Thank you, it was so easy, guess should have played around more. Where did you get your trainig from if you did any, I want to pursue from a decent institute. I am in NY/ong Island area. Or any book you want to refer, that'd be helpful too.

Thanks again

RE: Section view at certain depth

IA, I have been on V5 for 5 years now, some formal training at software vendors, mostly self taught - read the manual, check the forums.

Derek

IA,  If you are willing to travel, check this company out.  They are in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
http://www.maverick-solutions.com
or
http://www.aventec.com/
Both places have very well trained technical staff.
You can get the training cost/schedule under the V5 Training link.

Canada eh!, I don't know about that, but their's outline specially aventec's is very appealing and concentrated. Thank you for your help.

You can also get training through MSC Software, or Incat.  Both will come to where you are, for the right price and enrollment.
