Is there a windows type programme which is helpful when extracting/viewing information from blocks in autocad. My company used to have a programme called PDOC which was a drawings interface which had all the fields listed in an explorer type way (that info from the title block). This was more than useful but compatability became a problem with 2005.

Any ideas? (I presume the solutions cost a good deal but any suggestions would be welcome). Thanks.

RE: ACAD General

You could try searching this site.. http://www.freecadapps.com

I think I saw an extraction program there a while back.  Otherwise a search on Yahoo or Google for Autocad lisp or autocad programs will turns up quite a few add-ons or special purpose software.

RE: ACAD General

If you want to extract the information from attributes try using the "attext" command. Try looking in the help file for info.

You are right attext works but only directly within the drawing. I was looking more for an interface programme which can read from the outside, like explorer does to a very limited extent, and not to title blocks in autocad.

Any other ideas - its a commercial interface programme I'm after.

RE: ACAD General

If you are running Map I believe you can execute a query for attribute data. Also, if you will be doing this often I think you can set up an excel template to read the data. Check the help menu on attributes and excel.
