Can we use API 5L X 65 material in Pressure Vessel as Shell or a Nozzl

Can we use API 5L X 65 material in Pressure Vessel as Shell or a Nozzl

Can we use API 5L X 65 material in Pressure Vessel as Shell or a Nozzl

(OP)

Is it permitted to use API 5L X 65 pipe material in Pressure vessel as shell?

Can we use the pipeline codes provisions (Allowable stress here)

Since API 5 L X material are generally produced by using micro alloying elements can we still consider the material as Low Carbon Steel material or Should we classify and treat the mateiral as Low alloy material (When it comes to heat treatment in the context of UCS 85)

RE: Can we use API 5L X 65 material in Pressure Vessel as Shell or a Nozzl

See the "Forward" in each Code Book. Does it have a flattening test? Do you have all the paperwork?

Perhaps under a NCR,you will need to check with your AIA.

RE: Can we use API 5L X 65 material in Pressure Vessel as Shell or a Nozzl

NO, unless the material is multi-stamped and includes the ASTM/ASME A/SA you are alolowed to use it. I have seen the API been rejected by top AI's,
For what I know: the API locks of a test required by ASME,
the test is by the pipe Mfr so it can not be duplicated.
