Where can I find the ABAQUS .inp file format

THank you very much.

RE: Where can I find the ABAQUS .inp file format

The user's manual?

RE: Where can I find the ABAQUS .inp file format

hillyuan,

I've recently had the same problem.  I have trying to work with Calculix, a freeware FEA program that appears to have some great power.  Calculix uses the Abaqus file format and yesterday, I ran my first successful model.

Some of the resources that you may want to try:

www.calculix.de
www.bconverged.com/calculix

and the Yahoo! Users Group

groups.yahoo.com/group/calculix/

There are also some people on this forum that are either the authors of Calculix or are, at a minimum, very closely tied to it.

RE: Where can I find the ABAQUS .inp file format

I do not think there's a complete definition. There is rather a file structure (having various levels of information) and then the keywords to define the information. For correct definitions you will probably need
the ABAQUS Keywords Reference Manual (2 volumes, aprox. 1200 pages, for version 6.5).

Of course, you will need only some of them for a specific type of analysis and modeling.

RE: Where can I find the ABAQUS .inp file format

I agree that you will not find the complete file structure on the first two sites, but there was enough that I built an Abaqus file using the information mostly in the examples and in the documentation, which you can download.  I've never used Abaqus, so I was pleased.  I'm sure this question has probably been asked in the Calculix Users Group at least once, although I'm not a member of that forum.
