create/modify origin

create/modify origin

(OP)
Hi,

is it possible to modify the original origin of a catpart or a catproduct to a new origin?

RE: create/modify origin

No.   In a CATPart you can apply a transformation to your geometry, but that will just create duplicate geometry in your file (but it will be in HIDE).  Or you can modify your originating geometry to move the part (preferrable).

In a CATProduct, all of the parts can have transformations applied to them.

Why do you need to do this?

RE: create/modify origin

It's actually very easy to do, when you don't intend to do it. Especially if you work with contextual parts and edit parts within assemblies.

All you have to do is use the compass to move the part.
