Bolted joint - Bolt Spacing

Bolted joint - Bolt Spacing

Bolted joint - Bolt Spacing

(OP)
Hi,

My application is a bolted cover for a swing check valve.

Is there a design code/empirical rule of thumb that dictates maximum bolt spacing.  My calcs take into account the y and m factors, however, how can i be sure that the gasket will not leak mid way between bolts?

Thanks in advance

RE: Bolted joint - Bolt Spacing

Generally, If you design the gasket, bolting and cover to ASME VIII the likelyhood of gasket leakage is slight.

That said, having many years in valve design...TEST!
