Degree of compaction vs. shear strength of cohesive soils

Degree of compaction vs. shear strength of cohesive soils

(OP)
All,

Anyone have any good references to texts or papers discussing the relationship between compactive effort, degree of compaction and undrained shear strength/unconfined compressive strength of cohesive soils?

I'm aware that these strength factors may change depending on the confining pressure for unsaturated soils.

Thanks in advance,

Jeff

RE: Degree of compaction vs. shear strength of cohesive soils

Jeff - if you got that disk I sent you in January (hope you got it)- check out the ORN (British overseas research notes) - I think it would be ORN-3 - if I remember correctly, they have a chart of UU or CBR (which can be correlated to UU) for various levels of saturation and compaction.
cheers
