RE: SE v18 Draft BOM
I think you will have to use a spreadsheet for this, as the automatic BOM is not editable (at least up to V15).
No doubt someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
Go to Insert > Object and select Excel Spreadsheet with the Create New option.
This will embed a spreadsheet into your drawing that you can edit as required.
One tip here - in earlier versions of SE it was very difficult to increase the visible row/columns once the sheet had been created and cropped. What I do is put some data in a cell with a row/column position much greater than you will ever use. You will then be able to crop and re-crop if necessary.
eg. if you think your data will only extend to say cell H10 then put a character in cell P20.
I'm on SolidWorks at the moment so I'm not up-to-date with how latest versions of SE work. Apologies if some of my info is no longer valid.
The REALLY good news is I will be back in Solid Edge after next week -- Yipppeeeeeeeee !!!!

RE: SE v18 Draft BOM
to have the generated BOM in Excel just do the following
- select the PartsList
- RMB --> slect Copy Contents
- Open a new Excel
- RMB -- Paste or Ctrl-V
To adust the PartsList in SE
- Select
- RMB -> select Properties
make sure the pull down shows the correct style
- make any changes to text height/ columns a.s.o
- quit with OK
To convert a PartsList to just textboxes
- RMB -- select Convert to Text (can't be undone!)

RE: SE v18 Draft BOM
Spot-on with your info but I assumed jlbmech wanted an excel spreadsheet on the drawing. My method creates the excel file inside the draft file whereas your first option creates a separate excel file - but of course this can then be embedded back into the draft file.
All depends on what the user wants.
