When to adjust power vs frequency vs duty?
When to adjust power vs frequency vs duty?
(OP)
I haven't been able to find out how each of these variables should be adjusted when having problems with our laser (Amada Gemini 3015NT 4000w). I typically alter either the power or frequency. I do not understand how duty comes into play. I'm hoping someone can explain why this option exists and perhaps when and how it should be used. My only guess is that how the power supplies are worked comes into play. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

RE: When to adjust power vs frequency vs duty?
For example, 4000 Watts, 800 Hertz, 70% Duty= 2800 Watts (estimated). A duty of less than a hundred percent is practically interpreted as pulsing mode and not continous wave. Pulsing is done when you have intricate geometry which cannot be cut using regular CW (Continous Wave).
Therefore, you have to start playing with not only power, but frequency and duty as well to achieve these results. Again, this formula is mostly for cutting either intricate details or less than material thickness features such as a 0.375" diamter hole on 0.750" plate.
