Virtual Walk Thru in SW2005

Virtual Walk Thru in SW2005

Virtual Walk Thru in SW2005

(OP)
Hi again folks.

I have been asked by a contractor friend to model a home in SW and produce a walk thru to show potential clients.

I have heard that SW2006 has a Camera feature to do this.  Does anyone know how I do something similar in SW2005?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

CLinn

RE: Virtual Walk Thru in SW2005

In 2005 you would have to do section views or cut away anything behind the "camera".  Questionable if that will really work or not.  Any reason why you can't use 2006?

The problem is that I don't have 2006.

RE: Virtual Walk Thru in SW2005

In Solidworks (Professional at least) there is an Animator add-in which should be able to do fly-throughs for you.  You could combine this with Photoworks and have pretty graphics, wallpaper on the walls etc.  I think this could still be done in 2005, but honestly don't recall.

Otherwise there are some (relatively) cheap graphics programs out there, like Rhino, POV-Ray, or Animation Master.  You could export your model through IGES or VRML and use one of these apps to create your walkthrough.

Animator is the key but it would be very tricky in any SolidWorks version before 2006. You need the camera facility of 2006 to be able to easily get inside a model.
