Interference Fit - finding radius of contact

Interference Fit - finding radius of contact

Interference Fit - finding radius of contact

(OP)
Given a hollow shaft of one material press-fit into a housing of a different material and knowing the initial dimensions and material properties, I'm having a most difficult time calculating the radius of contact (ROC).

What am I missing?  If the materials were the same I might assume they would deform the same therefor the ROC might be assumed to be calculated directly from the amount of interference but that is not the case.

If you can help I would be appreciative.

Thanks'
Ken
