Temporary Works

(OP)
Does anyone know of any good references for temporary works design. It seems to be a field where nobody writes anything down.

I'm looking at a gantry crane for a bridge and I'd like a few guidelines.

RE: Temporary Works

You can find lots on gantry cranes just about anywhere, but mainly in the heavy industrial/mechanical area of manufacturing and storage, shipyards, docks etc.

The most used temporary structures reference that I know of is Robert Ratay's Temporary Structures Handbook.  One of the first books I bought out of school many years ago and it has been paid for several times over.

AASHTO has guidelines andn commentary on temporary structures.  So does ASCE.

You'd be surprised how much has been written down!

RE: Temporary Works

I'm interested to know what type of bridge and what the gantry crane is planned to carry out. Is it for a precast yard or is it to work on the bridge construction?
