Loss in Neutral conductor in Power Distribution

Loss in Neutral conductor in Power Distribution

Loss in Neutral conductor in Power Distribution

(OP)
Dear All,

we are invloved in consaltancy sevices for Power Distribution analysis.I have a doubt while calculating the technical losses of the 3 phase 4 wire network, shall we consider the loss due to current flowing in neutral conductor?? If yes,is there any software package available which takes this into account??

Regards,

RE: Loss in Neutral conductor in Power Distribution

I would say you should certainly consider the losses in the neutral.  We are actually mandated by the state to do efficiency analysis' of our system, and the neutral must be considered.  On the three phase system, the better balanced your system, the less fundamental neutral current, and the less your total losses.  We currently use Cyme's  Cymdist Distribution analysis software.
