Balloon sequence control on views of SW drawing documents

Balloon sequence control on views of SW drawing documents

(OP)
I searched this topic and did not find any discussion.

On a drawing view, it is a general practice that balloons are placed in sequece (cw or ccw).  I know that I can shuffle around "BOM" items through "BOM Contents" using "Row Up" or "Row down".  Another way is shuffle component orders in the assembly.  But both methods are not practical for a large assembly.  Is there a better way?  How do you guy handle balloon sequence control?

Thanks,

Alex

If you right-click on the BOM table there will be a Sort option.  This will let you sort the table by specified BOM columns.  We sort by part number.

I do not know of a way to sort by assembly position, other than ordering the files in the ass'y feature tree to what you want and haveing the BOM follow assembly order.

Custom Item Numbers are not considered here as they do not associate with Item Numbers in BOM.

RE: Balloon sequence control on views of SW drawing documents

Our products consist of about 800-1000 parts, including hardware.  Unique parts average around 350, and about 60-90 sub-assemblies.  Top level components, including hardware run around 100-150 items.  We usually reorder the components in the feature tree to get the correct order we are looking for in the BOM table.  With good use of sub-assemblies and patterns, this isn't much of an issue with us.

Problem solved.

I just notice that you can force a balloon to have a different item number by changing Balloon Text's Item number.

Thanks for your comments.
