FORMATTING PROBLEMS WHEN SAVING EXCEL BASED BOM

FORMATTING PROBLEMS WHEN SAVING EXCEL BASED BOM

FORMATTING PROBLEMS WHEN SAVING EXCEL BASED BOM

(OP)
Hello...I'm Johnny Cash,

I am trying to create a Excel based BOM that I can save separatley from the DWG, so that other departments in my company have access to it.
Although the problems that I am having are many, I shall not burden you with them all.The one that is causing me the most headache is; whenever I attempt insert my Bom excel template (the one that has the formmating I want), Solidworks re-formats the inserted excel template. The second problem is; that once I have saved the excel Bom that had just been inserted I can reformat the cells but cannot merge cells.
I apperciate any advice on this matter.
thanks in advance

Excel 2002 Sp3

I am also running SW05 & have the "cannot merge" condition after a "Save As", but my BOM templates do not lose their formatting when inserted into a drawing.

I don't know why those conditions exist but perhaps a SP upgrade will help you.

A workaround for the merging problem would be to copy-n-paste the BOM data into a new Excel file.

CorBlimeyLimey,
Thanks for your input. I have seem to of found a workaround on the formatting problem. I was adding cells with our company info above where you would put a header.
As far as the merge problem it was a simple solution. I was using a SW BOM template and they have the: "Share Workbook" option set for multiple users. It was that setting default that was not allowing me to merge the cells.
Thanks,
jcool
