Short circuit analysis for system having Is-limiters
Short circuit analysis for system having Is-limiters
(OP)
Hi,
I am new to this forum.
I am currently doing a short circuit analysis of a 6kv-industrial net. My problem is that the net has many Is-Limiters (short circuit current limiter - an ABB product)in it. Can anybody suggest how to do modelling of the same or account for the same for doing realistic short circuit analysis.
If any software has this as built in feature then kindly let me know that too
thanks in advance

RE: Short circuit analysis for system having Is-limiters
I know that the SKM package gives you the option of plotting TCCs based on a specific fault location rather than the standard plot showing the maximum fault current at each protective device. That would at least simplify the problem.

Looking at the ABB datasheet, it appears that these are best modelled in CAPTOR as a fuse.

Eventhough ABB has named it as "Is-LIMITER", it consists of fuses and limits the peak short circuit current Is (IEC term).
Therefore in short circuit studies, it should model as a "fuse".
