Concentrated Loads on OWS Joists

Concentrated Loads on OWS Joists

Concentrated Loads on OWS Joists

(OP)
It is quite common to reinforce existing OWS joists, to support newly imposed concentrated loads, with angle from load to nearest panel point at opposite chord.

The question is, do we add only one angle on one side, or one angle on each side?  Could the joists experience torsion if not reinforced on both sides?

FYI: Shear and moment have been checked.

Thank you ...

RE: Concentrated Loads on OWS Joists

For every condition where one angle will work, there will be others that need two angles. Don't agonize over it...use two angles.
