Function of Nozzles in Centrifugal Chillers.

(OP)
Hello everybody

What is the purpose of having Nozzles mounted or installed on the rotor shaft of hermetic centrifugal chillers (high pressure chillers)  between the motor and the compressor section. I was told that their function is to create a low pressure zone in the vicinity, thereby stopping the transfer of lubrication oil to the compressor section from the motor section.
Am I correct ? if yes can somebody comment or expalin it in better way or may I get an experts opinion in this matter.

many thanks in advance
