Tedds or Scale in english

Tedds or Scale in english

Tedds or Scale in english

(OP)
Hello i am looking for TEDDS or SCALE, a software package by FASTTRACK, can anyone advise me on were to get them on the web i am in desberate need

RE: Tedds or Scale in english

Oddly enough its www.tedds.com for tedds.

I may be wrong but SCALE is likely to be obsolete.

I also can't imagine why anyone would be in desperate need of either as the both do the equivalent of hand calcs and require exactly the same understanding and checking...

RE: Tedds or Scale in english

I thought this was a stupid question until I looked at the TEDDS website http://www.cscworld.com/tedds/tedds.html . I am still none the wiser as to how I could buy a copy if I wanted to.

RE: Tedds or Scale in english

Pba,  I'm not sure SCALE is totally obsolete.  It is an old DOS based package but it was updated to run in a windows environment a few years ago, and there is still a website for people to download updates.  SCALE is part of the SAND analysis suite (which also contained NL STRESS) by Fitzroy Systems but they dont appear to have a website.

You used to be able to download SCALE for free a few years ago.

It was originally put onto the web for educational use only, but I think it was abused by people using it for commercial purposes.  They removed it because of that.

If I remember correctly the software isn't expensive, certainly when compared to the competitors.  But it certainly not as pretty either.  I sugggest you call them.

RE: Tedds or Scale in english

Slide, good find.  It is still available after all these years.  Its a lot more expensive than I remember it as well.  Seems a lot of money to pay for a DOS package.

RE: Tedds or Scale in english

I believe that Doug Brown who is the power behind SCALE is due to retire soon and it has been rumoured that it may no longer be technically supported.  However, it is not currently obsolete.

It is a good package for an engineer to follow his/her way through a design calc as the printout is a long-hand version of the calculation.  Not pretty, but functional.  have just purchased TEDDS and am slowly learning the system.  Prettier than SCALE but more expensive

We used to use SAND at my last job, but we upgraded to TEDDS as well.  I agree that SCALE is actually a very good package, although it did get a lot of abuse because its not very user friendly.

From what I can remember, the annual support costs for SAND (of which SCALE is a part) were only a few hundred pounds. Pretty cheap.

How much is a license for TEDDS these days?  I can't imagine its much more than the £2800 for a SAND licence.
