Photoworks Phlying
Photoworks Phlying
(OP)
Just did some Photoworks Stuff for the first time on my new dual core rig and it is absolutely flying. Its so nice to watch the two CPU graphs ride 100 and have a pw buffer animation finish in minutes. Maybe I will get in on Rob's Comp since I'll have all this free time now.
I made some major changes in complex parts with over 200 features, rebuilt some of my larger 500+ assems, surface lofted hundreds of reference point curves in 1 feature, and performed some intense surface fills and shut off surfaces. I was so impressed I don't know how I lived without this and I had 2Gigs and a 3.4 GHz processor with a Quadro FX3000.
After hearing all of Jeff's talk I broke away from my Dell History and went with an Xi.
AMD Athlon 64 FX-60 (DC4200)
4096MB DDR 400MHz PC3200 4x1024MB
Quadro 3400
150GB 10K SATA (I partitioned it for dual boot on XP Pro and XP-64 (testin that next week) for those wondering why I went with 4Gigs)
24 inch LDC (bought referb from dell for 800 and threw it up next to a 19 laying around).
All in all this kind of cut extruded some holes in the pocket, but If you reply to this post jeff I'll give you a star for convincing me to go with an Xi.

Isn't it cool?!? I do a lot of rendering and love how much time it shaves off with the dual-core. I'm glad you went with Xi, since they'll be paying me a referral now. (JUST KIDDING!) I tell everyone about them because I'm a one-man-show who needs to get the most bang/buck and they fit the bill very well.
Do you do any rendered animations? Check that out with the FX-60--I'm thinking of re-rendering an animation that took 32 hours on my old system just to see how much this one improves the time. Should be stunning.
Keep us posted on the Win 64. I'm curious about that a great deal. Let us know how well your peripheral hardware cooperates with it, too.
