Local and Derived Patterns

Local and Derived Patterns

Local and Derived Patterns

(OP)
Can you change a local pattern and make it derived and vice-versa?

I am working on an assembly created by someone else and he has a derived pattern of screws going through a hole pattern but he created a local pattern of the t-nuts that the screws also go into.

I would like to change the t-nuts pattern to derived so that I only have to change the parent pattern to completely modify the assembly.

Thanks,

John

RE: Local and Derived Patterns

You could change the existing derived pattern to also include the t-nuts, but you can't change a pattern from local to derived.  You can dissolve a pattern, but that just makes individual unmated parts.

Thanks,

That is what I have already done.  Sometimes I find myself trying to make things harder than they need to be.
