Trimming a pin to a surface.
Trimming a pin to a surface.
(OP)
I am trying to trim a pin to a contoured surface in my model with out success.
The pin was created using the revolve sketch command.
The cut with surface icon is available but once i select it I cannot select my pin or surfaces around it.
There is also a clearance hole through the part for the pin.
The trim surface icon is greyed out.
any suggestions.

Because now the pin is a revolved sketch.
Here is the view of the model along with the directory tree.

You should then be able to cut the pin with this surface body.

RE: Trimming a pin to a surface.
I ended up doing a surface fill which intersected the full pin diameter.
Afterwards I did a surface offset up .040 and then back as suggested.
Next I noticed some of the trim commands were nolonger greyed out which was nice to see.
And finally I was able to use that surface fill to trim my pin it was a beautiful thing!
