Drawing slow to come up

After creating a part is SW 2006 and pressing the create drawing icon it takes a long time before the drawing format comes up. I am using SW 2006.

Thanks for any help.

RE: Drawing slow to come up

Are the formts stored on a network drive or on your computer?
Do you have the Tools > Options > System >File Locations set correctly?

cheers

The computer is on a network but I have my templates stored locally on my computer and the file locations pointed at place. It eventually finds the template but take 2 minutes or longer.

RE: Drawing slow to come up

Open the Task Manager & watch what processes are using the CPU when you try to create a drawing.

Also, what happens when you try creating a new drawing without having any parts or assemblies open.

What are you system specs?

cheers

RE: Drawing slow to come up

After setting the File locations for your templates, exit the system options dialog by pressing OK. Now restart System Options, click Default Templates. Are they pointing to the C:\ drive? If not click the 3 dots to the right. Set your template for all 3.
Good luck.

RE: Drawing slow to come up

Check the views to see if any of them are using high quality cosmetic threads.  This is reputedly slowing down drawings significantly.  If you click inside the view but off the part, in the prop mgr you should be able to turn down the display quality.
