Formwork design: Lateral coefficient

Formwork design: Lateral coefficient

Formwork design: Lateral coefficient

(OP)
What is a typical lateral coefficient used for wet normal weight concrete in formwork design?

RE: Formwork design: Lateral coefficient

ACI has established equations that are dependent on concrete properties, vertical rate of placement (Ft/Hr), and temperature. You can get the detailed information at this link
http://www.apawood.org/level_b.cfm?content=app_com_concrete
Download "Concrete Forming" (free .pdf), listed under related publications and see page 17. You will have to sign in with the APA website to access the document.

Although this document is applies to plywood forms, the same equations are use no matter what material is used for forming (steel, fiberglass, wood, etc.)

RE: Formwork design: Lateral coefficient

Please clarify your statement.

Are you asking about pressures applied to a form face due to liquid head of concrete, or are you asking about lateral bracing of formwork to resist loading due to wind, concrete load or applied loading?

The publications of ACI 347 should clear up these issues.

Please ask additional questions and see if clarification is possible.
