Fire Alarm Location Signs

Fire Alarm Location Signs

Fire Alarm Location Signs

(OP)
Rooms housing fire alarm equipment in Florida must have a sign indicating "Fire Alarm Control Panel Inside".  Where does this requirement come from? Eg. NFPA 72, Florida Statutes, Florida Codes etc.

RE: Fire Alarm Location Signs

The state of Florida has adopted the 2003 edition of NFPA 1. I found no requirement in the model code or NFPA 72. I attempted to locate the Florida Fire Code amendments on line but was unsuccessful. It's most likely a state amendment.

RE: Fire Alarm Location Signs

Section 510 of the international fire code talks about fire department access to equipment. Rooms containing controls for sprinkler risers, valves, air conditioning or other fire detection, suppression or control elemnst shall be indentified for the use of the fire department.

RE: Fire Alarm Location Signs

I can only think that in NFPA 1 mentions that the pannel must be located in a visible place according to the AHJ.
