Also, give specific info such as pump casing and impeller materials, slurry details, etc.

RE: Ceramic Coating for Slurry pump

A steel pipeline is used to transfer bulk solid material used for lining of furnaces in the steel-making industry.  At changes in direction (90°) pots are used, which has a diameter about twice that of the pipe.  The high velocity particles wear away the material in the pot and after about 6 months a hole would develop and the pot would than either be repaired or replaced.  Is ceramic material the solution?  Who can advise?

RE: Ceramic Coating for Slurry pump

Try it and find out.  The system you have is using 1930's technology where the retained paste within the "pot" is acting as a "mobile ceramic".  Try making up a couple of ceramic lined pots then compare their life to the cost of the ceramic.

I would also look at the "steel" used to make the pots.  Modern fabricating may now have ways to make harder wearing or forged pots that exceed the materials available when the plant was built.

as a ps:  If you are using pots you may want to talk to a commercial supplier who sells a "work hardening pot"

contact "HammerTek corporation" in USA 717 898 7665 They produce Vortice "ells" here the pot is on a 45 or 90 degree corner. http://www.hammertek.com/
