NASA World Wind

I just test drove the World Wind software by NASA.  It is quite amazing.  Link to the site is http://worldwind.arc.nasa.gov/

Quite a large file for dialup folks, but if you have broadband, its worth the effort.

I would like to see further discussion on how this concept will evolve over the next five years.

RE: NASA World Wind

Similar to Google Earth I think.

Wiki article discusses the similarities and differences between the two.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Wind

It is amazing and scary at the same time.  local.live.com has limited amount of aerial bird's eye view of densely populated cities in the U.S.  I hope no one uses this wealth of information to our disadvantage.

RE: NASA World Wind

Both look to display rather impressive results.  One thing I would like to see is how current the images are from one vs the other.  Google of course likely charging a fee for more "current" images.

I can't help but wonder if this is the quality of "de-classified" images, what the quality of current technology is (not that I truly want to know).
