fiber optic cable installation .

The fiber optic cables transmit  light rather than electronic  signals eliminating the problem  of electrical interference . Then why as per NEC 770.52 the conductive optical fiber  cables are not permitted to occupy the same cable tray  or race way  with  conductors  for electric light ,power .

Also It is understood in electrical industry that a metal-clad (MC) gets the same treatment as conduit with regards to cable separation .MC cable is a manufactured  assembly of flexible conduit and cable and flexible conduit by NEC definition is a raceway (art 100)
So can  the power,  type MC cable , be laid along with  fiber optic cable non conductive and conductive type ?? in the same cable tray .

RE: fiber optic cable installation .

"Generally" you cannot put them there but there are a bunch of exceptions.

"Nonconductive optical fiber cables, but not conductive optical fiber cables, can occupy the same cable tray or raceway as conductors for electric light, power and Class 1 circuits operating at 600V or less (see Figure 770-10 un770-10 770-52A 02.cdr)."

This is in the "MIXING FIBER and ELECTRICAL" section of:

Thanks for the information (itsmoked on fiber optics) since some of the doubts are clear ,i m new to this forum .
I understand that to prevent the accidental energization of the conductive material in fiber optic it is essential to separate the conductive fiber optic from class 1 and power cables , but still cannot interpret the nec code properly ,whats the thinking behind separation .
