Saturated or Unsaturated Impedance
Saturated or Unsaturated Impedance
(OP)
I've tried a search on this forum to find some of the answers.
When considering electrical calcs, should unsaturated or saturated generator reactance be used for:-
1. Harmonic Analysis
2. Short Circuit Calcs
3. Motor Starting Volt drop calcs
From what I've read there appears to be an answer to 2 and 3 above, but not to 1...
1. ??? (unsaturated data?)
2. Saturated data
3. Unsaturated data
I stand to be corrected on my interpretation on the above answers!

RE: Saturated or Unsaturated Impedance
You are correct
Generally speaking saturated values are used where the current is high - ie fault calculations. Unsaturated values are used up to rated current ie motor starting calcs. I would use unsaturated for harmonic calcs.
